Cochrane's $10 Land Offer Piques Interest
Cochrane, Ontario, has launched a program offering land plots for new home builds at $10, alongside a five-year property tax break. The plan was launched in the hopes of expanding the town’s size by up to 1,500 plots, attracting more than 4,000 new residents, mostly from the Greater Toronto Area. Although the $10 figure will be in addition to extra costs for infrastructure, the plan is intended to enable affordable investment and living in contrast to what has become of Toronto's housing market. The program not only hopes to grow the local population but also to maintain the charm of small-town living as well as a strong job market in mining and forestry.
